Cross-link knowledge

The benefit of a knowledge database (wiki) compared to a classic notes app is that you can cross-link the individual entries with your knowledge. This allows you to refer to other interesting content and easily switch from one entry to another suitable entry while reading.
Set link to other entry
In smasi App you can set any number of links to individual entries within a collection. Before you can add a link to an entry, however, the desired target entry must already exist. Then you can insert a link as follows:
1) Open entry to insert link
First open the entry in edit mode where you want to set a link to your other interesting entry.
Now click the familiar plus button at the desired position within the entry to add a new section. A link is also a section of the type 'Link'.

2) Set new section of type 'Link'
In the following dialog, open the 'Link' area and select the 'Entry' type:

3) Select entry as shortcut
Now click on 'Select entry' to specify the desired entry for the shortcut.

If required, you can enter a specific title for this link in the 'Caption' input field below. As soon as you leave the caption empty, the title of the respective entry is automatically applied - even if you change the title of the entry later.
Backlinks always up-to-date
If you want to know which entries already link to the currently opened entry, there is a practical backlink list in the smasi App. In the reading mode of an entry, you will find the 'Backlinks' item in the menu at the top right:

This will give you a current list of all entries that have a link to this entry.
No dead links guaranteed
As soon as you delete an entry, all associated links in the corresponding entries are also automatically removed. If required, you can use the backlink list to check in advance which links will be affected when the entry is deleted.
